- Beef Primal Cuts
- Chuck: This cut is found on the cow’s shoulder area and is considered to be among the most flavorful and can be cut in a variety of ways, giving customers numerous options to choose from.
- Brisket: This cut is obtained from the breast of the cow under the first five ribs. The flat or lean is noted for containing less fat and when prepared properly it is one of the most flavorful cuts of meat. Brisket needs a lot of time at a lower temperature to tenderize.
- Shank: Right in front of the brisket, comes the shank cut. This cut requires a lot of preparation to tenderize it and is mainly used in the preparation of soups and stews. Shank cuts are usually cooked for extended periods allowing the meat to tenderize as much as possible.
- Rib: This cut is obtained from the last 6 to 12 of the 13 pairs of ribs on a cow and are known for their tender, flavorful nature. The high amount of marbling in these cuts is one of the main reasons behind their rich flavor.
- Short Plate: The short plate is found in the abdomen area of the cow, below the rib primal. Plate cuts tend to have a tight grain structure and are fattier than rib cuts. For this reason, they offer a great quality-price ratio.
- Short Loin / Sirloin / Tenderloin / Top Sirloin / Bottom Sirloin: The loin is located just behind the ribs, at the top part of the cow. It is the most tender and usually divided into two main parts, the sirloin and the short-loin. The meat tends to be quite tender. While the sirloin is slightly tougher than the short-loin, it is considered to be the more flavorful of the two.
- Round: At the hind legs and rump of the cow you have the round cut. While this primal cut of beef tends to be lean, it is also tougher. The round cut is among the most inexpensive beef cuts you can find in a grocery store.
- Pork Primal Cuts
- Shoulder Butt / Picnic Shoulder: Cuts from the upper portion of the shoulder are well marbled with fat, making them ideal candidates for slow-cooking methods like braising, stewing, or barbecuing. Cuts from the arm, or picnic shoulder, are a bit more economical than those from the blade area but are otherwise quite similar.
- Loin: The area between the shoulder and back legs is the leanest, most tender part of the animal. Rib and loin chops are cut from this area, as are pork loin roasts and tenderloin roasts. These cuts will be dry if overcooked.
- Spare Ribs / Belly: This is where most bacon originates and is typically broken down into the pork side and pork spare ribs. It's common to pan-fry bacon and pork belly while going the traditional low-and-slow route with smoked ribs.
- Ham: This is a straightforward primal cut of pork that includes the back leg up to the hip and the main product is ham of all kinds — country-style, spiral sliced bone-in, etc. — which is cured and then smoked to complement the pork’s natural flavor. This area also produces pork leg steaks, whole pork leg shanks, ham hocks, and dry-cured prosciutto.

You can find organic products throughout the Wright-Patterson Commissary. They are easily identified on store shelves by the small green signs displaying the organic seal of the United States Department of Agriculture. Find a wide variety of organic items ranging from organic milk, eggs, soups, yogurts, frozen veggies, cereals, frozen pizzas, enchiladas, shampoos, conditioners, and body lotions throughout the store.

Customers can now download a mobile app to access the Defense Commissary Agency’s (DeCA) website programs such as Commissary CLICK2GO online payment and curbside pickup, digital coupons, the sales flyer, dietitian-approved recipes and much more.
Available free for download via the Google Play and Apple app stores for Android and Apple devices respectively, the mobile app gives commissary shoppers access to a variety of DeCA’s online functions on their smart phones and tablets.

Service approved animals in the Commissary
Disabled patrons who rely on service animals trained to assist them will be permitted to bring their service animals into the commissary while shopping. Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets.
Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), 28 C.F.R., Part 36, "Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability by Public Accommodations and in Commercial Facilities, (Reference (bb)).
Disabled Veterans
Non-retiree military veterans that have at least a 0% service-connected disability rating are authorized to shop at the Wright-Patterson Commissary. Your Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC) must have VA Healthcare Enrollee and Service Connected on the front. For access to WPAFB, you will need to visit the Pass and Registration office first. They are located just outside the perimeter fence line, near Air Force Materiel Command, at 4185 Logistics Avenue, WPAFB, OH 45433. Pass and Registration personnel will then add your VHIC to their system for base access.
Caregivers can also accompany the veteran as long as they have a Primary Family Caregiver Letter. Caregivers eligible under this act will receive a letter from the VA that indicates they are the primary family caregiver for a veteran enrolled in the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers. This must be presented at Pass and Registration along with an authorized government-issued ID. Self-Service Bagging
Patrons may self-bag their own groceries at any register. Simply notify the cashier at the start of your order.

Special equipment for patrons to use
The commissary now has a special needs Caroline's Cart available for use. We also have Universal baby car seat docking stations. These baskets are located in the entry vestibule for your convenience. We offer electric carts for those who need them.
Have the hours at the Commissary changed?
Normal operating hours are 0800-1930 (Monday - Friday), 0900-1930 (Saturdays) and 0900-1700 (Sundays). All federal holidays are 0900-1700, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day (CLOSED), Christmas Eve (0800-1600), Christmas Day (CLOSED), New Year's Eve (0800-1730) and New Year's Day (CLOSED). If the federal holiday falls on the weekend, we will have our holiday hours on the actual day of the holiday, not on the federal holiday observed date.
Are there plans to close the Commissary?
The commissary will remain open to support the Wright-Patterson military community. The resupply lines are severely stressed with deliveries arriving on a daily basis. However, with enhanced patron shopping the merchandise is purchased as soon as it comes available. Therefore, we placed limits on certain items in an attempt to support as many patrons as possible.
How is the Commissary addressing replenishing stock?
The commissary management assures patrons shelves will continue to be stocked and product availability will be maintained and secured. Deliveries have been increased to the store to ensure product availability, particularly on items that are in high demand such as disinfectant wipes and toilet paper. From a product availability standpoint, the commissary is continually working with industry suppliers and installation senior leadership to support the needs of the Wright-Patterson community.
Is the Commissary limiting the number of people allowed in?
Not at this time.
How are we protecting Commissary employees?
The Defense Commissary Agency adheres to established cleaning and sanitation protocols. Masks are also available to any employee upon request.
How are we protecting Commissary customers and employees?
In addition to offering face coverings for employees and customers, commissaries have implemented the following operational policies to help make stores safer during this pandemic:
- We installed clear, acrylic sneeze shields in all regular checkout lanes, SCO attendants stations and ID checking desk to add extra protection for customers and employees.
- Commissary personnel are using sanitizing solution at checkout stand areas, product display glass cases and handles and shopping carts.
- Employees are practicing routine hand washing and other basic sanitation measures to reduce transmission risk.
- Hand sanitizer is provided at each cash register and staff are encouraged to use it at the end of each patron transaction.
- DeCA encourages its employees to closely monitor their health, and asks them to stay home if they, or someone in their household, are sick.
- We have implemented, in union with the installation, procedures regarding social distancing.
- We encourage the use of credit or debit transactions to limit the use of cash and coins.
- We work closely with local the public health assets on the installation to monitor transmission risk related to staff and patrons.
- Commissaries have temporarily suspended the requirement to sign credit card receipts to prevent multi patron handling of the credit card reader pen.
Guest Rules
COVID19
As of 06 Oct 22, the CDC assesses the local COVID-19 Community Level for both Greene & Montgomery County as LOW. IAW OSD guidance, the Installation's Community Level is also assessed as LOW. WPAFB moved to HPCON Alpha as directed by the 88 ABW/CC on 11 Oct 22. Personnel may choose to mask at any time. Individuals with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask. Public Health & medical providers continue to recommend mask wear for high-risk individuals & in settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained.
The following applies due to the current status of Health Protection Condition Alpha:
- Command Mandate - Personnel & visitors are not required to wear a mask in the commissary, but are encouraged to if they have recently been exposed to COVID-19
- Command Mandate - Visitors are permitted in the commissary
- Product limitations will be enforced when required
- Signature capture for CC transaction under $50 not required
- Volunteer shoppers for quarantined authorized patrons

Expanded Patronage:
1.Protective Services Civilian Employees; an individual employed as a protective services civilian employee at a military installation may be permitted to purchase food and hygiene items at a commissary store located on that military installation.
2. These positions included: Security Administration (GS-0080), Fire Protection and Prevention (GS-0081), Police (GS-0083), Security Guard (GS-0085),
Emergency Management (GS-0089)
3. Only the individual employee has shopping privileges, not dependents and/or family members.
4. There are no other unique limitations on when they shop or what they buy other than alcohol / tobacco products.
Starting Jan. 1, 2020 all service-connected disabled veterans, Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war and primary veteran caregivers will be eligible to shop at commissaries worldwide. Guest Rules
Guest information - ID card scanning is in effect at all commissaries worldwide 100% ID check conducted at central checkouts. Visitors may accompany authorized patrons into the commissary; however, the installation commander has the authority to restrict visitors from entering installation facilities. Only authorized patrons are allowed to make purchases. When you present your ID card at the register, the cashier must conduct visual verification to confirm that you are the cardholder by looking at the photograph on your card. In addition, DoD Instruction 1330.17 grants installation commanders the discretion to institute 100% ID checks at commissary entrances for security purposes. Because these are separate requirements, your card must be shown and scanned at the register, even if it was also shown at the entrance; we regret any inconvenience this may cause you.

FAIRCHILD COMMISSARY will close early on Wednesday December 24th at 1600 and be closed Thursday December 25th for Christmas Day. We will also close early on Wednesday December 31st at 1700 and be closed Thursday January 1st for New Years Day.
Your commissary will be open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. This is just another way to make your commissary shopping more convenient.
When you are shopping make sure you check out all the club pack items on aisle 1. These are the same items you see in warehouse and club stores, and you do not have to pay a yearly fee to take advantage of these well priced items!

Limited Service on Mondays
Your Fairchild Commissary is now open 7 days a week. We are open on Mondays from 1100 to1700 with limited operations. Self-Check Out registers will be the Commissaries primary register to check out our patrons and deli/bakery/custom meat orders will be very limited. As opposed to being closed it made sense to open the commissary for patrons to pick up items they need as opposed to having go somewhere else.

Expanded Privilege
Starting January 1, 2020 all SERVICE-CONNECTED DISABLED VETERANS, Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war and primary veteran caregivers will be eligible to shop at commissaries worldwide. For more information on this new program, go to www.militaryonesource.mil/expanding-access, or to determine eligibility, visit a local VA medical facility; call 1-877-222-VETS (8387), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., or apply online at VA.gov.
COVID Information
The Fairchild Commissary is currently in LOW (green) status. Masks are NOT currently required by all visitors regardless of vaccination status. Please continue to practice social distancing. Patrons are able to bring and use re-usable shopping bags. Limits will remain on certain items until supply chains regain consumer demand fulfillments. Store hours and entrance policies are subject to change per guidance from installation in partnership with Defense Commissary Agency.
Military Star Card
Commissaries are accepting the Military Star Card as a form of payment. Customers can earn two points for every dollar when they use their Military Star card to purchase their groceries at the Commissary. PRICING PRACTICES' AT THE FAIRCHILD COMMISSARY:
The Commissary is an Appropriated Funds facility; it is a not-for-profit entity unlike retailers outside the gate or even the BX. Goods are procured and purchased by the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) with DOD Appropriated Funds for resale to patrons.
While our customers can be assured that they are provided with the best overall prices in their shopping trips to our commissaries, when it comes to individual items each retailer may have a different cost from their suppliers. If we find that our cost does not allow us to be priced as competitively as we should be, or provide the savings we are committed to provide, our category teams will work diligently with our suppliers to negotiate the best cost possible. This might include running great promotions with deeply discounted prices. However, from time to time we may need to be priced slightly higher than a commercial store. At DeCA we are committed to provide the best overall savings to our customers that we can!
Patrons purchase products at cost + surcharge. Price changes are processed twice a month, on the 1st and 16th of each month. Surcharge is applied to the total value of each commissary purchase because the Congress has mandated collection of surcharge (currently 5 percent) to pay for commissary construction, equipment and maintenance. All surcharge dollars collected are returned to commissary patrons in the form of continually improved commissary facilities. The amount of surcharge applied to a commissary sale transaction is shown as "SCG" on your sales receipt.
“Give the Gift of Commissary Groceries.”
Commissary Gift Cards can be purchased online and inside the commissary at the customer service desk. Anyone can purchase these gift cards, but the recipients must be an authorized patron. You can select an “open value” card from as little as $5 to as much as $300 per card.

Be sure to plan ahead to allow for shipment lead times on your favorite holiday products. Some restrictions may apply at overseas commissaries. Contact your store for specific availability.

- Access CLICK2GO from your computer/mobile device by logging into your shop.commissaries account. If you don’t already have an account you can register on the login page.

- When you’re ready, choose your pickup time and complete checkout
- What should I bring to pick up my order?

- Payment is collected online. Your total payment may be slightly different (either higher or lower) than your estimated total shown online due to random weight items such as produce and meat. Additionally, DeCA's pricing policy, similar to that of retail grocery chains providing this service, is to charge you the item price in effect on the day and time of pickup.

- What are Commissary CLICK2GO’s operating hours?
- Mon-Sun from 9am-6pm, 7 DAY'S A WEEK (Dates and hours may vary by location) Quantico Commissary is open the 7 day's a week.
- Orders can be placed 24 hours a day, up to six days in advance of the desired pickup date
- How soon can I pick up my order?
- There is a minimum six hour lead-time from the time the order is submitted to the time of curbside pickup. For example, an order submitted at 5am can be picked up the same day as early as 11am
- Orders placed after 11am will default to the next available pickup time the following day
- What happens if I am going to be late?
- If you are running late or will be unable to pick up your order altogether, contact your CLICK2GO commissary via email or phone. That information is located on your confirmation email. The store will accommodate your schedule.
- Should I tip the person handling my order when I pick up my groceries?
- No, Commissary CLICK2GO employees are not allowed to accept tips.
- How do I cancel my Commissary CLICK2GO order?
- You can cancel an order up to 4.5 hours prior to your reserved pickup time

- Select the order you want to cancel then scroll down and click "Cancel Order"

⭐️⭐️Fisher House Foundation’s Scholarships for Military Children program is ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS for the 2026–2027 academic year, NOW through FEB 11th. The program, entering its 26th year, recognizes the contributions of military families to the readiness of America’s fighting force and celebrates the commissary’s role in enhancing military quality of life.
Who can apply?
The Scholarships for Military Children program is open to unmarried military dependent children under the age of 23 who possess a valid Uniformed Services Identification (USID) card. They must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate program leading to a bachelor’s degree or a community/junior college designed to allow for a direct transfer into a four-year program.
In addition, a student’s parent(s) or sponsor(s) must be one of the following: active duty, reserve/guard, deceased, or retired from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Space Force. Applicants or sponsors do not need to live at an installation with a commissary – simply select the commissary where you shop or the one nearest to you.
How to apply
The Scholarships for Military Children Program requires that the student complete the application themselves and attest to that when submitting it. Applicants must perform the following steps:
- Create an account through https://fisherhouse.org/programs/scholarship-programs/scholarships-for-military-children/ that you can return to later.
- Complete all tabs of the form – a green checkmark indicates completion.
- Write a short, 500-word essay – the essay topic is also available to applicants at the scholarships-for-military children application page.
- Submit transcripts: High school applicants – transcript indicating a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale (unweighted). Current college applicants – transcript indicating a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale (unweighted).
- Validate your eligibility as a military dependent by entering the benefits number found on the reverse of the Uniformed Services Identification (USID) card. If you qualify for an ID card but do not have one, you should immediately, schedule a visit to a military personnel office and bring proper documentation.
Applicants who are awarded a full scholarship to attend a college or university or who receive an appointment to one of the service academies or affiliated preparatory schools are not eligible to receive funds from this program.
