Quality of life benefits for the American military have evolved significantly over the past few centuries. Part of that benefits package includes commissaries, which were restricted to officers dating back to 1825. The era of the “modern” benefit started on July 1, 1867, when Congress authorized enlisted service members to shop there as well. Today, the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) remains committed to providing a 21st century benefit to eligible patrons who need it, said DeCA Director and CEO John E. Hall.

Church & Dwight Co., Inc. is voluntarily recalling all lots of their Zicam® Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs, Zicam® Nasal AllClear Swabs, and Orajel™ Baby Teething Swabs in the United States and Puerto Rico at the consumer level that are within their expiry period, due to potential fungi contamination in some cotton swab components, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent June 9.
New DeCA-themed race car logo unveiled at Fort Gregg-Adams Commissary ahead of simulator’s 54-store tour
The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) hosted NASCAR Xfinity Series team JR Motorsports (JRM) driver Justin Allgaier at its Fort Gregg-Adams Commissary in Virginia May 14. Unilever and JRM have worked with DeCA for more than a decade to publicize the commissary benefit, and in 2021 presented their first military-themed car sporting the DeCA logo. The simulator’s tour takes it to 54 commissaries across the nation during the 2025 season, with its last stops at the Army’s two Fort Bragg Commissaries in North Carolina in September.
