Expanded Patronage:

1.Protective Services Civilian Employees; an individual employed as a protective services civilian employee at a military installation may be permitted to purchase food and hygiene items at a commissary store located on that military installation.

2.  These positions included: Security Administration (GS-0080), Fire Protection and Prevention (GS-0081), Police (GS-0083), Security Guard (GS-0085),
     Emergency Management (GS-0089)

3. Only the individual employee has shopping privileges, not dependents and/or family members.

4. There are no other unique limitations on when they shop or what they buy other than alcohol / tobacco products.  

Starting Jan. 1, 2020 all service-connected disabled veterans, Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war and primary veteran caregivers will be eligible to shop at commissaries worldwide. DOD’s “Taking Care of Service Members and Families” initiative will allow us to reduce commissary prices at the register about 3-5 percent on most items – particularly on food staples that struggling military families need most such as bread, eggs, milk and more,” said Bill Moore, director and CEO of the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA). “With this boost we can achieve at least 25 percent in overall savings for eligible patrons who shop their commissaries.”

Commissary customers are expected to see price changes at most locations by mid-October.

 “The commissary system’s commitment to saving military communities money has not wavered for over 30 years,” Moore said. “We remain steadfast in our efforts to improve the quality of life of our eligible patrons by saving them at least a quarter on every dollar they spend on groceries compared to ‘outside the gate’ grocery stores. That’s $50 back in your pocket on a $200 grocery bill! “We are a food security resource for our customers, and as such, we are doing everything we can to get our precious military families the products they need – at the lowest price possible.”

UPDATE: Patrons using Commissary CLICK2GO, the Defense Commissary Agency’s online shopping and curbside pickup service, can now use the MILITARY STAR card to purchase their groceries through the website.

Do you hate to shop, then CLICK2GO may be the answer and it is available Monday to Friday-1100-1700 and NEW Saturday 1100-1500.  Do your order at least 3 hours before your desired pick up, and we will have it ready for you when you come.  No need to come in, just pull up call the number on the sign or 254-683-6269 and we will be out in a few minutes with your order.  Give it a try, you will like it.

Reloadable Gift Cards are here! Now the open value cards allow purchasers to put between $5 and $300 on these gift cards. Cards are good for five years from the purchase date. There is no fees when cards are purchased within the store. Buy as many cards as you like.

Patrons are reminded to check the ends of aisles in the store for themed items with extra low pricing.

                            ATTENTION COMMISSARY PATRONS

Effective:  June 31, 2024, your Smokey Point Commissary will no longer be supplying
plastic bags. Starting July 1, 2024, patrons are responsible for bringing their reuseable bags.
Reusable bags are available for purchase. 

Removal

* Phased plan to eliminate both plastic and paper bags.

However, we will have replacement bags for the purchase of .35¢ per bag.
