Commissary Rewards Card

If you don't have a Commissary Rewards Card you are missing out on great coupons savings. Rewards cards are available at any register or Customer Service Office. Just get your card, register it online, and add coupons to it. Make sure to give your rewards card to the cashier along with your ID card at the register.

Military Star Card

Commissaries are accepting the Military Star Card as a form of payment. Customers can earn two points for every dollar when they use their Military Star card to purchase their groceries at the Commissary. Customers with questions about the card should contact the Military Star Card Customer Contact Center at 1-877-891-7827 or visit MyECP.com

Expanded Privilege 

Starting January 1, 2020 all SERVICE-CONNECTED DISABLED VETERANS, Purple Heart recipients, former prisoners of war and primary veteran caregivers will be eligible to shop at commissaries worldwide. For more information on this new program, go to www.militaryonesource.mil/expanding-access, or to determine eligibility, visit a local VA medical facility; call 1-877-222-VETS (8387), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., or apply online at VA.gov.

Renovation Project

A construction contract for upgrade of the commissary at Marine Corps Hawaii Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, was awarded Sept. 28 to Nelson Refrigeration Inc.

The renovation of the commissary, built in 1993, will increase the store’s operational efficiency and enhance the customers’ overall shopping experience by accomplishing the following upgrades:

• Replace the store’s HVAC equipment
• Modernize the sales area with new refrigerated product display cases and new interior finishes such as a finished floor, ceiling tiles, LED lights and décor
• Expand the seafood area and reconfigure the deli-bakery and sushi areas
• Renovate the administrative office to enhance security by adding controlled access
• Update the customer restrooms with new partitions and fixtures
• Enhance the store exterior with partial replacement of outside doors, clean the facades and add new exterior signage

Approximate cost of the project, including construction equipment and contract administration is $19.87 million. Construction is expected to begin by August 2023 and scheduled to be completed July 2026.

During construction, we ask for patience and understanding as the store's layout will change frequently.

Commissaries customize website for online shopping

Commissary patrons now see a faster path to virtual shopping as the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) announces “shop.commissaries.com,” as its go-to website for access to services like online ordering, payment and pickup. Shop.commissaries.com replaced “commissaries.com” as DeCA’s patron-facing online site, streamlining the customer experience and making it consistent with other grocery retailers.

How do you prepare for the next crisis? Planning is the first step and emergency preparedness officials recommend a disaster supply kit that includes the following items:

•           COVID-19 protection – reusable or disposable face coverings, disposable gloves, hand sanitizers, disinfecting wipes and hand soap

•           Water – at least one gallon daily, per person (three-day supply for evacuation, two-week supply for home)

•           Nonperishable foods – canned meats, fruits, vegetables, dried fruits, nuts, raisins, cereal, crackers, cookies, energy bars, granola, peanut butter, and foods for infants and the elderly (three-day supply for evacuation, two-week supply for home)

•           Paper goods – writing paper, paper plates, paper towels and toilet paper

•           Writing utensils – pens, pencils (manual pencil sharpeners) and markers

•           Cooking items – pots, pans, baking sheets, cooking utensils, charcoal, a grill and a manual can opener

•           First-aid kit – including bandages, medicines and prescription medications

•           Cleaning materials – bleach, sanitizing spray, and hand and laundry soap

•           Toiletries – personal hygiene items and moist wipes

•           Pet care items – food, water, muzzle, leash, carrier, medications, medical records, and identification and immunization tags

•           Lighting accessories – flashlights, batteries, candles and matches

•           Battery-powered or hand-crank radio (NOAA Weather Radio, if possible)

Commissaries, AAFES partner to sell each other’s gift cards

The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) and the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) began selling their respective gift cards in both commissaries and exchanges on June 22. Commissaries will now have reciprocal agreements with AAFES and the Navy Exchange Command (NEXCOM) for gift card sales. DeCA began their partnership with the Navy in May 2018. Both organizations’ gift cards are open value: AAFES cards sold in commissaries are available in denominations from $5 to $1,500, and commissary cards sold in exchanges are available in amounts from $5 to $300. Authorized customers must still redeem the gift cards at their respective store or online.

Starting April 6, 2026 commissaries will start charging a nominal

price for each single-use paper or plastic bag.  Cost associated with this change is 5 cents

for plastic and 10 cents for paper single-use bags.  This change will allow the Defense 

Commissary Agency (DeCA) to continue to offer its eligible patrons significant

savings while strengthening its fiscal stewardship and reducing operating expenses.

   Patrons submitting Commissary CLICK2GO® curbside or delivery orders will be

given the option to purchase bags when checking out.  

PLEASE be aware of the parking lot and entrance to being done by base construction projects.  Areas are easily marked by the cones.

Coming to Saudi Arabia

If you are one of the individuals or someone who may be accompanied. It is important that you know what to expect at your local commissary here in Riyadh Saudi Arabia.

We are very small and limited but we do carry the common items you would find in a commissary back home. One important thing to point out--due to the restrictions and limitations on who can accompanied the sponsor. We do not carry baby food, or baby supplies. You can be purchased such items on the local economy.
We normally receive food shipments every month by cargo ship from DeCA Europe in Germany. We carry your common non-food items such as paper products and detergents, charcoal and lighter fluid. A good selection of dry and frozen food items.  Special orders can take up to 120 days to arrive when first ordered.

A very important fact: All items coming to Saudi Arabia must go through Saudi Customs to include our US Mail. So if your planning to have items sent to you by mail please make sure that what you want is allowed to come into Saudi Arabia. An example of what can not be mailed to Saudi Arabia is pork or pork products, anything to do with alcohol or the making of such is strictly prohibited. Your local post office can help you obtain a list of items restricted.

Summer Student Intern Program 

These internships, filled under the DeCA Pathways Program, provide students in high school, college, technical or vocational school, a certificate program, and other qualifying educational institutions with the opportunity to explore federal careers as paid interns. Students must meet eligibility and requirements by the announcement close date. Students (min. age is 16) must be taking at least a half-time course load and have at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA. Anticipated employment period is May to September 30, 2023.

Food Safety Reminder

The USDA recommends to “cook all raw beef, pork, lamb and veal steaks, chops, and roasts to a minimum internal temperature of 145 °F as measured with a food thermometer before removing meat from the heat source. For safety and quality, allow meat to rest for at least three minutes before carving or consuming. For reasons of personal preference, consumers may choose to cook meat to higher temperatures.” The USDA also suggests to “cook all raw ground beef, pork, lamb, and veal to an internal temperature of 160 °F as measured with a food thermometer. Cook all poultry to a safe minimum internal temperature of 165 °F as measured with a food thermometer.”
