The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) is kicking off a three-part “Back-to-School” series through Sept. 7 to help families prepare for the new school year – without breaking the bank. First up is a sales promotion for college students promoting savings on essentials including instant meals, dorm staples and late-night snacks all in the Commissary Sales Flyer, available from July 28 to Aug. 10.

The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) announces an initiative to add Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods products starting with a major launch event at the Fort Belvoir Commissary in Virginia on July 30. The pilot launch of Ukrop’s prepared meals and fresh baked goods also includes commissaries at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Fort Lee and Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia. This launch could eventually expand to 30 commissaries along the East Coast.

The Fort Belvoir Commissary in Virginia, hosted its first pop-up style farmer’s market, featuring organic products June 27 - July 4. This event kicked off the Defense Commissary Agency’s (DeCA) campaign to offer expanded selection of organic produce and proteins throughout the enterprise. Quality of life benefits for the American military have evolved significantly over the past few centuries. The era of the “modern” benefit started on July 1, 1867, when Congress authorized enlisted service members to shop there as well.
