Patrons using Commissary CLICK2GO, the Defense Commissary Agency’s online shopping and curbside pickup service, can now use the MILITARY STAR card to purchase their groceries through the website.

Holiday shopping can take quite a bit of time. However, by thinking outside the grocery bag and using your commissary benefit you can pick up some holiday gifts right from your local store.

The Defense Commissary Agency’s (DeCA) Sales Flyer for Dec. 5-18, offers customers even greater ways to save on fresh produce, meat and holiday treats as they prepare for their festive gatherings.

Mention PB&J to an American soldier, and many can recall making that “perfect” peanut butter and jelly sandwich to hit the spot when their stomach needed a quick, tasty snack. No one knows who invented the PB&J, but for U.S. service members that sandwich goes back to at least World War I when enterprising troops combined elements of their rations to create a culinary masterpiece.

On Dec. 13, 1636, the Massachusetts Colony created an organized militia that would eventually become today’s National Guard. “We want our customers in the Guard to know we celebrate them every day by delivering the commissary benefit they’ve earned,” said Marine Corps Sgt.Maj. Michael R. Saucedo. “We also want them to be aware that if they’re not shopping their commissary, then they are missing out on overall savings of at least 25 percent compared to prices at ‘outside the gate’ grocery stores – that means you save $50 on a $200 grocery bill!”

Applications are now open for the Scholarships for Military Children Program for academic year 2023 – 2024. The program, entering its 23rd year, recognizes the contributions of military families to the readiness of the fighting force and celebrates the commissary’s role in enhancing military quality of life. It’s administered by Fisher House Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping service members, veterans and their families.

On Dec. 20, 2019, Congress established the U.S. Space Force within the Department of the Air Force. The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) is honored to deliver the commissary benefit to Space Force guardians and their family members, said Marine Sgt. Maj. Michael R. Saucedo, senior enlisted advisor to the DeCA director.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began to take over the world in February 2020, the ability for the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) to get products to its stores, especially overseas, became an enormous challenge. For DeCA’s logistics director, Randall S. “Randy” Eller, it was never a question of if they could supply stores. Failure was not an option for the nearly 240 commissaries serving millions of service members and their families worldwide.
