November 10 is the 242nd anniversary of the establishment of the U.S. Marine Corps by the Continental Congress in 1775. This gave the Navy a special armed force – essentially, a seagoing infantry – to be used during battles at sea and ashore.

Commissaries salute military with special November events

Commissaries worldwide will salute the military community in November with special events and promotions including high-value coupon booklets for free frozen turkeys.

The Department of Defense announced today that retired Rear Adm. Robert J. Bianchi will serve as interim director and chief executive officer of the Defense Commissary Agency.
