Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company, LLC issues allergy alert on undeclared almonds and cashews in Mauna Loa dark chocolate covered macadamias
Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company, LLC is voluntarily recalling Mauna Loa dark chocolate covered macadamias, due to the possible presence of undeclared almonds and cashews, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent April 28.
Consumers who have allergies or severe sensitivity to almonds and cashews run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.
The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, Chief, Public Health Division, DeCA Headquarters and Support Center at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The products were distributed to multiple retail locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Guam.
The recalled Mauna Loa dark chocolate covered macadamias are packaged in 0.6 ounce and 4 ounces bags. The following products are subject to recall:
- Mauna Loa dark chocolate covered macadamias, 0.6 ounce: UPC Code 072992054644, Lot numbers K5069C1 and K5069C2, and best by date October 2026
- Mauna Loa dark chocolate covered macadamias, 4 ounces: UPC Code 072992055566, Lot numbers B4339E1 and B4340E1, and best by date September 2026
Consumers who have purchased the product and have an almond or cashew allergy are urged not to consume the product and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
