Hormel Foods Corporation recalls canned beef stew product due to possible foreign matter contamination
Hormel Foods Corporation, a Tucker, Georgia establishment, is recalling approximately 256,185 pounds of canned beef stew product that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically wood, according to a Department of Defense All Food and Drug Activity message sent May 29.
The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, chief, public health division, DeCA Headquarters and Support Center at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is concerned the product may be in consumers’ pantries. Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume it. This product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
The canned beef stew item subject to recall was produced on February 4 and bears establishment number “EST 199G” printed on the can. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
The following product is affected by this recall:
- Dinty Moore beef stew, 20-ounce, Lot Code T02045 printed on the can, best buy Feb. 28, 2028.
Customers should return this product to the commissary of purchase for a full refund.
