Baby Formula Shortage
Your Commissary knows that family always comes first. These baby formula shortages are a tough issue, which began with a major product recall and temporary closure of a huge manufacturing plant.
Currently, our infant formula fill rates are down, significantly impacting how much of these products are on commissary shelves. We are working around the clock with our suppliers and distributors to get these products, or alternative sources, to our shelves, with priority to our overseas and remote locations.
Because the availability of baby formula for our stores is fluid right now and evolving daily, we have implemented purchase limits to ensure everyone has equal access to essential items, and to prevent panic buying.
These purchase limits are on all specialty baby formula in conjunction with state-level Women, Infants and Children, or WIC, program limits. Purchase limits can vary by location based on state WIC purchasing guidelines. Overseas stores are also tied to limits through the WIC-Overseas program. These limits are similar to what customers are seeing in military exchanges and commercial stores.
Bottom line, we want our customers to know we are doing everything we can to get the products they need – especially to our overseas and remote commissaries.
