Will commissaries have enough reusable bags in their inventory to meet patron demands?
Yes. DeCA plans to stock more alternative bag options to match the demand of commissary patrons based on the agency’s analysis of the initial phase of the new bag policy.
How will this policy impact commissary baggers?
The baggers will still be given the opportunity to bag for patrons seeking assistance, but with the customers either bringing their own reusable or brought-from-home bags.
Why is the commissary rationing single-use bags?
Due to a lack of appropriated funding, DeCA was not able to purchase our yearly supply of single-use bags at the start of the fiscal year. Our stores only have what bags remained from last year’s supply for use at this time. Once appropriations resume, we will be able to replenish our stock.
What is the timeline for DeCA to receive its yearly supply of single-use bags?
Once appropriations resume, we will be able to quickly resupply our stock as the bags are readily available from our supplier.
What alternatives will commissary patrons have for reusable bags?
Commissary customers are encouraged to bring their own reusable bags from home or purchase reusable or hot/cold bags from the selection available at each store. Find your favorite reusable bags here.
